Meet Eric Bernstein, President & Co-Founder

Eric Bernstein is a natural problem solver who built LendFriend Mortgage around helping borrowers find a path forward when the easy answer is “no.”

He especially loves helping homebuyers in a pinch—someone already under contract who was unexpectedly denied by a bank, a self-employed borrower whose tax returns don’t reflect their true cash flow, or a high-net-worth buyer with substantial assets but limited traditional income. These are often the borrowers who have been told they cannot qualify for the home they want.

Eric and the LendFriend team work with more than 40 wholesale lenders and a broad range of mortgage programs, including conventional and jumbo loans, bank statement mortgages, asset depletion loans, DSCR loans, VA financing, and other Non-QM solutions. That lender access gives the team more ways to structure a loan when a traditional bank’s guidelines don’t fit the borrower’s financial picture.

Eric is also the voice behind many of the articles in LendFriend’s Learning Center. Much of that content is inspired by real questions, challenges, and mortgage scenarios the team encounters while helping clients—from entrepreneurs trying to document income to buyers navigating jumbo financing, asset-based qualification, or a last-minute loan rescue.

For Eric, the most rewarding closings are often the hard ones: rescuing a purchase after another lender falls through, helping an entrepreneur qualify without relying solely on tax returns, or showing a borrower who thought homeownership was out of reach that there may still be a way to achieve the American dream.
